Happy Friday my dearest darlings!

Wee! First of all...Happiest of Happy Birthdays to [livejournal.com profile] ngaio and [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck! I hope you both have a super fantastic day, with everything that you oh-so-deserving hearts desire! *throws a party and hands out cake and beverages*

Second of all - Hee! [livejournal.com profile] mpoetess has earned a place in the [livejournal.com profile] swmbo-heart FOREVER (not that she didn't already have one!) by donating money in the pure and glorious name of Snygel in the Saving Angel Shipper wars! The Food Drive's choice of topics for yesterday was so inspired *dances* And, heee! I am saddened that the organizers don't appreciate the beauty that is Snygel, as can be seen from this quote: We'd like to tip our hats to the inventive among you who came up with a few interesting couple combos; such as Lorne/Angel, and the most disturbing pairing of all time Snyder/Angel. Disturbing?! Darn their inability to see true love! Well, the shipper war is going to be rematched on March 29th and I'll actually be able to donate then myself. Snygel will become known and loved, forever! *peers at Ashy* Although I'm so torn because while Snygel is good and true and canon - who can resist the siren's song that is Xolaf? Or Splory? Oh, to love so many ships and so well...

*blissful sigh*

And wee! I start my new job Monday and today I ... well I slack at home in the morning and then I *shudder* go to renew my car tags in the afternoon and buy creamer (I had only enough for ONE cup of coffee today! Horrors! Fortunately I also like my coffee black. It's coffee...there is no bad!) and ...oh yeah, go to the bank. *nearly forgot*

Hmm...ok, here's the thing. Some of you may or may not remember a series of cell phone disasters that I had. Where I um, broke the phone partially by spinning in my chair while it was plugged into the cell phone recharger. And then a couple months later (2-3 weeks ago), completed the job by nearly setting the whole thing on fire with the replacement recharger. Now for those who may not realize, swmbo is a tech-junkie, she can't help it. This phone was the Treo Handspring 180 - preordered and received when they first became available - one of the first PDA/cell phones on the market and definitely one of the first good ones. (And swmbo was screwed because the first ones were b/w only - and they'd priced the color versions as significantly higher and not coming out for any known time. Then a few weeks after she bought the b/w version, they announced the color version would be coming out in like 2 months AND dropped the price to just 100 bucks more than the b/w. Grr.)

So anyway - there are a lot more cellphone PDAs out there. Both Palm OS (like the Treo) and PocketPC (I've had first an Aero and then an IPAQ for years, but it's also currently, well, in bad shape. It won't hold a charge. I'm cursed that all things break at the same time.)

Does anybody out there have any experience with any of the other models? Or service plans available, cause I'm with T-Mobile now, but Sprint (curses on their name, both of them) is also available. Feedback on networks and/or phones would be SO lovely. Particularly - and this is the key - the web browser and email functions. Shuddup, I'm a geek. Hee!

*loves you all* *HUGS*

*pokes you*

You want Verizon. Because they have the best network and services.

And of course if you get the in plan we'll be able to call each other for free!

But really they do have the best network out there, work uses sprint and their network is always scratchy and cuts out, haven't had that happen yet with Verizon.

Verizon isn't an option here :(

*kicks Verizon* But hmm...evil, evil Sprint! If it is bad and cuts out...*ponders, ponders*
*goes to look at plans even more*

*hugs you tightly*

evil evil verizon!!

Yeah Sprint is terrible on the quality, good plans, sucky reception.

*hugs you back*

I'm leaning back and forth again. The sprint Treo is cooler but also slightly more expensive. And I can't figure out their internet portions online.

I can figure OUT the t-mobile one but I never actually used it - I just dialed up to my old ISP. Sooo...

The thing is, the Sprint one I know I can find places. And I also get torn into going to something much more generic and cheap and then buying a new IPAQ as well. Dude. SO MANY CHOICES. And really, I need to be darn economical about it, which is never easy for me - shiny, shiny, shiny! I have been SO good for so long...

You should move to Indiana. We have Verizon...
And NORMAL garage sale days!
::cackles evilly::

And wacky opinions on Daylight Savings Time.

I PASS!

Hah! Hee :)

Good cell phone plans are so way more important than Daylight Savings Time! So there! :P
And plus! I'm here, that automatically makes a place 82% better!

evil, evil Sprint! If it is bad and cuts out...

It all depends on where you are.

I live in Detroit, and got one of those little signal booster things (which apparently really do work, since I have noticed a difference), and I have had very few issues with it ever cutting out (had the same phone for 4 years, so it's not like it needs to be a new model).

Several of my friends have verizon and thus pay like 3 times what I do for comprable plans, and their service is not notably better. But I have heard that things are different if you live in other cities, where Sprint=root of all evil.

[identity profile] swmbo.livejournal.com 2004-03-26 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
See and I know that LOCALLY the Sprint service is probably divine - the World Headquarters is here. But therefore they are evil, EVIL and not to be trusted! I'm sure T-Mobile isn't actually any better, though :p

Plus if it's really bad in other cities - I want something that can work where I travel. I didn't have a problem when I took my T-mobile phone but it wasn't nationwide - there just weren't roaming fees if I used other networks.

CHOICES!

Plus if it's really bad in other cities - I want something that can work where I travel.

It all depends. I have taken my phone all over the country (I travel for work sometimes), and have had no noticeable difficulty, unless on the road in heavy traffic somewhere like LA. In which, dropped calls=the norm. But I think that the other providers also have a hard time there. *is not certain* But Chicago, though I have heard a lot of complaints from locals about Sprint, I had no issues. No I think that it's a mileage may vary situation.

[identity profile] swmbo.livejournal.com 2004-03-26 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
And it actually probably depends on the quality of the phone as well I'm guessing.

SO really - maybe, maybe not!

Hah!

Ok, I'm going to do my errands, and look at phones while I'm out. Keep your fingers crossed for me ! And stop being so darn entertaining *grumble*
