Apparently my karmic balance is being readjusted because eventually people *stopped spoiling me*

Today things have gone backwards! Beginning with a huge thunderstorm that hit about 4 am, which I was not expecting and thus my windows were open. Or so I thought. I ran around closing them and went downstairs and I was like 'huh. This window is closed. I remember opening it, but not closing it. Does this mean somebody has broken into my house and closed windows and later will murder me in my bed?"

It did not, at least on the latter part, because I was not murdered. But I still do not know the mystery of the closed window. Maybe Swmkit jumped up on it and hung on until it slid closed. I would not put it past him.

But I went back to bed and was almost back asleep when lightning struck SO CLOSE to my house that I actually felt the whole thing shake. EEK. But I did not die. Again.

Then this morning I tried to put in my right contact and instead I put FIRE AND PAIN AND AGONY into my eye. OUCH. I had to take it right back out and blink and cry a little bit and then was like " I am apparently so not doing that today" and then went to find my glasses. That was a hunt and a half and took like 10 minutes.

Also, I finished reading the second book in Robin Hobb's Soldier's Son series (fantasy) and I just - I am SO ANNOYED WITH THE MAIN CHARACTER I WANT TO PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE. Twice. Gah. And now I have to read the third for closure but part of me hopes *he* just gets hit by lightning and we can go on to one of the more interesting secondary characters.

And all of my glasses hunting delayed me enough that I didn't pack my lunch. (I am trying to be SO GOOD about lunches, too!) So later today I will venture into the rain and see what is scrounge-uppable. I am crossing fingers and toes.

But that is NOT the most horrific thing of all! NO! Brace yourself. MY nephbo may have a broken elbow!! We don't know yet, poor munchkin, and actually we're really thinking it's a sprain because he says not in any pain now that he's in a cast/sling, but he and his x-rays are going to a specialist today. He's my favorite though, he told me solemnly that he could "only hug you with one arm because of the sling, but I will" and he did. Aww. Also, his aunt got back from a SF vacation and was showing us pictures and he was looking and goes "That is gorgeous." and I do not know *WHY* a 4 year old saying "That is gorgeous" is about the funniest thing I've ever heard but it is.

Cross your fingers that the stars align and take us back to the better side of life. And also that it is just a sprain for my nephbo, because he is annoyed he can not ride his bike with just one arm.
