It is GORGEOUS outside. Well, ok, I *feel* like it's gorgeous outside - it's actually really windy with an icy gale that rips through my soul and lets the tattered bits flap about merrily. But if it wasn't for that, I'd be outside right now, because the actual temperature is nice and also there is this giant glowing thing in the sky, I think it's called a sun? I am passingly fond of it.

I'm much further into The Stand now and I thank everybody who said "keep on trucking, swmbo!" because yes, while I still hate the majority of the characters, there are a *few* I don't and, more importantly, I'm interested to see what happens. So that's a plus. Of course, much further is still only like 25% in.

Mostly because in addition to reading it in bits and pieces, I've been obsessing over Doctor Who again. I watched the last half of season 2 on Sunday and I've started Season 3 and I really *like* Martha Jones. She's awesome.

Ohh! The thing I did on Friday - it was amazing. It took about an hour and we were in pitch blackness navigating an artificial world. We were each given one of the long, white canes and there was a guide who had been visually impaired (she said she had about 90% blindness) who helped us navigate the world. A park, a farmer's market (and I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to indentify every vegetable by touch/smell, primarily touch with the smell for confirmation. It means I'm good with my veggies!), a boat ride (that was amazing - a boatride in pitch darkness with the wind and the birds calling and navigating a swaying bridge...amazing and SCARY), a city street (not my favorite thing at all, I think I got run over by a bus) and a cafe. The time flew and it was - it was amazingly relaxing. I wish I had been in there with just a few people, because the worst bit was the way people kind of clumped up and didn't move - I just wanted to walk and explore and BE in the darkness. That was the thing that stunned me most I think. How much it just made me feel - almost like I was meditating.

Anyway, I highly, highly recommend it to anybody who can go - it's called Dialogue in the Dark and they have stations in Atlanta and KC and some in Europe. But they really hope to expand it to more cities.

And now - back to the old grind! I have hot tea and there will be oatmeal and oranges. Merry Christmas!
