Not dead but sorry, things are crazy hectic and I'll probably go into that more - basically i started posting again when we had hired a new manager but then the manager QUIT and I ended up doing the work of five swmbos AGAIN and it drained my brain but we have a new manager again and she's stayed for TWO WHOLE WEEKS so we're hoping that's gonna continue and if it does, so do posts from swmbo.
In the meantime, this is from this weekend:
Ok, just so you guys know, it was TWO FREAKING DEGREES this morning after being 60+ on Saturday and the whole thing was heralded by an ugly, ugly wind storm and advisory.
Wind. Let me tell you about wind.
Saturday night at some point it started to build. To build and to howl. I was sleeping upstairs (because we're talking the wee hours of the morning, right? When did this hit, like 3 am? ) and I kept hearing it howl so I kept tossing and turning and then I just heard this – it sounded like everything was kinda shaking and then there was this tinkling sound like wind chimes coming from my living room and more and more howling. And I was like WHAT THE HECK? I thought I was dreaming but the weird moaning wind kept getting louder.
So I go downstairs and the howling is louder and louder and – the French doors that lead out on to my deck had BLOWN OPEN and were about a foot apart (with the deadbolt on!!) and the curtains had blown off the clips and were lying on the ground and the wind chime sound was coming from the little rings dancing against the rod and each other furiously and the wind was blowing into my house and I was like 'OMG, WHERE IS THE CAT?!"
Then I had to struggle to close the doors against the fierce winds and they didn't want to close, they kept popping open a few inches. I managed to get a chair wedged underneath but they still wanted to open and I finally gave up trying to sleep and just sat downstairs while I could monitor and refresh weather.com to find out when 1) the wind advisory would no longer be in effect and 2) when the wind would not be from the stupid southwest.
That was at like 9 am. After hours of blearily..playing WoW to stay awake. Yeah, I suffer, ok?
The cat, btw, was fortunately upstairs and responded to my calling for him with a plaintive, miserable 'what the heck is going on in this place' miao.
Gah. THE WHOLE THING WAS AWFUL. And I finally managed to bodyslam the doors closed but it's still not right and proper and if it happens once it could happen again if the winds come back (what, do I live on the frickin' MOORS?) so I need to get it replaced or the frame or something, gah. Yay, me. In the meantime, I'm going to drag a desk in front of it so that if the wind blows, it can't open the doors. And also people can't rob me of my valuable cat.
