Ok, so, I wish I had witty and delightful stories for you. But you don't get witty and delightful from me today! You get groggy and grouchy!

Also, I've been reading and reading trying to finish my personal Booker longlist challenge and I swear to you, I think it's possible I might ACTUALLY GET IT DONE. They announce the shortlist on Tuesday sometime. One book is not here yet, so it really depends on if it arrives by Saturday's mail. And I have two others, one of which I think I'll be done with by Friday sometime. If I manage this, it will be the FIRST YEAR I HAVE!!
Thank god for the Kindle, it's the only reason I'm this close. True story. Oh, and one book I *loved* was:
From A to X - John Berger. It's incredibly beautiful and it made my heart hurt and I just loved it so much. I think it managed to top The Secret Scripture on my list of winners, although I go back and forth. If it doesn't make the short list it's a Travesty. I AM VERY WORRIED ON ITS BEHALF.
Tuesday is gonna be tense, man.
The coffee at work has beeen getting worse and worse and it's to the point where it's enough to make one want to throw oneself out the window. Now that I HAVE a window, it's becoming an increasingly tempting alternative. I bring in coffee from home when I can but...
One of the main reasons I've been SO QUIET on LJ is we're crazy-short staffed. But we're SUPPOSED to extend an offer to somebody today and if we do, then maybe I'll have moments to breathe again. PLEASE LET IT BE SO! I miss this place. I did notice that nobody bothered to dust while I was gone. Or, um, while I was here.
Anyway, even in absence I adore and miss you guys. Well, the missing is particularly in absence.
