sheeesh.
So, some of you may have heard we had a chemical plant explode here yesterday. I'm far away and it sounds like only two people had minor injuries, that was it- the fire's consumed about a city block and is expected to get resolved before the weekend but they think it'll be ok. Heh, they set up an emergency red cross station for up to 500 evacuees from the area. They had 13 people show up. And 7 of those were like 'yeah, we're not staying'.
Although the black, oily liquid falling from the sky and the strange black chunks are kind of creepy. Um, not HERE. Where the actual explosion is, I just hear about it. You know what's bizarre? Turning on the radio in the morning and hearing:
"As a thick black cloud poured out of KC, residents were asked not to touch the unidentified black chunks falling from the sky."
Hi, apocalypse, nice to meet you. Also, dear news reporters: WHY THE HELL ARE YOU TOUCHING THAT STUFF?! SERIOUSLY!?
They freak me out. Some of them were *sniffing* it! And all the hazmat people are like 'um, please don't do that' and they're like 'It smells really strange, Bob'. NO JOKE.
Although we had some special airplane fly in from Dallas to assess the quality of the air. Their response? "The air quality is within reasonable limits - no worse than the smog of some major cities'.
Um, GROSS.
