GAH!
So I got back from talking to the Collision (Note, Snark, that I didn't type it Collusion this time) Center. The floor not only buckled, he measured with his hands how much. Measured SIX INCHES. *shudder* My poor, poor car.
So yeah, there's frame damage although he believes it's repairable or replaceble. *sigh* Which, ok, good. Ish. Keep your fingers and toes crossed, kiddwinks, because the joy is just beginning. I don't know anything really about the repairability of frames, either. Everybody keeps saying 'if it's the frame, you're pretty much screwed for life', except of course for the Collision Center themselves.
So here's the real question - does anybody on my beloved flist know anything about Inherent Diminished Value? Have you ever (succesfully or not) pursued a claim for it? My car had only 5500 miles on it and not a scratch prior to this, so the change to major accident with frame damage (we're looking at about 4-5k worth of work) is dramatic. Or so I assume, because iI honestly don't know anything about it.
On the bright side, Kansas itself is one of the states that's very pro-DV - it's apparently one of the three states that would even pursue it if the accident was my fault and I was going through MY insurance company - most states it's only even valid or likely if the accident wasn't your fault. Well, and the accident was NOT my fault, so in theory that gives me a decent chance. Right? Right!
But anyway, this is just all just random knowledge - I have no actual or practical experience. SO if anybody does have any, you should share! Good or bad stories, because KNOWLEDGE IS POWER! Hey, I watched my Saturday morning tv.
I cling to the thought that Mombo is coming up and she can take care of me this weekend. Except I STILL have to clean the kitchen. Tonight. Right? Right.
I'm so upset about my car now. It wasn't that bad when it first happened - I thought bumper damage and scratches and stuff...I was rear-ended once before and it was minimal. But this so is not and my baby is so NEW!!
I did take two aleve for my back today (seriously, it was probably aggravated by the accident but not anything that wouldn't be likely to happen anyway. I think it's the way I'm sitting in the rental. I keep realizing I'm practically sitting on my hip, if that makes sense).
ETA Edited because I can't even control cut-tags! *bursts into tears*
July is officially FIRED!
ETA 2.0 Today is National Fried Chicken Day. This seems important.
ETA 3.0 On bright side, swmboss just sent the following email on the hallway team: My fellow Creepsters-
We not only got the go-ahead from [Senior VP], but I ordered everything today. I got some additional things including all the necessary items to build a 6 foot free-standing clown. His mask is hideous! Also, I got the cobwebs, colored gels for the overhead lights, the masks, etc.
