Heee!

Today, I am a drowned rat. Wet and bedraggled and pathetic looking. When I woke up, the day looked normal. When I got ready to go, the day looked a little overcast.

By the time I got in my car, that changed to ominous with the potential for doom.

Somewhere on the drive in, the weather changed over to apocalyptic with torrential downpours.

Lashings of rain, and it came in sideways and over me and under the umbrella, which blew up anyway, and seriously, it looks as if I went WADING in my jeans, they're that soaked. And I wore sandals because when I was getting ready it was still just overcast and it wasn't like I'm gonna be outside much today...

So now I've kicked my sandals off and am trying to dry but pretty much I'm a bundle of chilly misery, with a side of amusement.

I did, however, have TWO gorgeous cups of coffee this morning, while playing an hour or so or World of Warcraft. Yes, the addiction, she is back.

Games and work and fandom and a myriad of topics because I feel like it's one of those days where I must catch up on my life! )
LASTLY! God, somebody's still reading? Wow. bonus points to you. ALthough there's a good chance you just didn't click on the cut tag!

Ok, yeah, that was long. And actually it was a lot longer, I just cut out a HUGE secton on televison and broadcasts and bit torrents and stuff. Because it alone was the length of a regular entry. It is definitely one of those days! But never fear, I saved the text and will post it up later, but I didn't want it lost. I hope today is fantastic for all of you! I'm gonna be listening to the thunder crack and feeling the building shake from it!

As threatened promised in my last post...

[livejournal.com profile] chase820 linked to a really interesting article a couple of days ago and I meant to reference it earlier, about online downloads and the future of television. I agreed with a lot of the first part and like I replied to Chase, I have no interest in downloading ANYTHING I can see for myself when I want to. Current, in theater movies, I go to the movies to see. Anything (movies or dvd) that's already out on dvd, I'll buy or rent. But for tv shows that I want to try or catch up on or miss an episode for some reason? I want NOW!

This was gonna be on the last entry, but it's such a different issue - television, downloads, bit torrents and the future )

We're obviously a biased sample group, but I'd love to hear what people think of the article(s) and, relatedly, the state of television today. Or yesterday. Shows that you've loved, your own thoughts on their complexity and if it has changed or just our perceptions of them.

PS. I KEEP FORGETTING! [livejournal.com profile] soundingsea - the dvds arrived, thank you SO very much!

PPS. My jeans are still soaked. Bleck.

ETA[livejournal.com profile] flowery_twat (WITH a y!) provided more information on the NY Times article!
The book the NY Times article is about is called 'Everything Bad is
Good for You', and you can listen to the author (Steven Johnson) talk
about it on NPR here
