Ice! ICE IS EVERYWHERE!
*puts out distress call to
arundhathi*
It wasn't as bad as it could have been - last night when I went to bed they were still saying up to an inch accumlation of ice and then several inches of snow on top of it. But since the actual sleet had stopped at the time I went to sleep, I wasn't too concerned. Even though Ice is my Nemesis and we fight many fierce battles! When I woke up, after several moments of "i will sleep a little longer", I checked and it looks like we only got 1/3 of an inch of ice or so. Which is still a lot of ice - but for the most part it was pellet form, it hadn't gone too glassy.
Now the weather reports are acting like it's over (except for one guy who was like "It might turn and come back this way, but as for now I'm not buying it". BUYING IT? Hee. Apparently there are kerfuffles amongst my weather reporters!) But it's still coming down now, even though they CLAIM it's switched over to snow. But it's still ice. Evil, evil ice. And I made it in safely to work, although about 30 minutes later than normal, and the roads were pretty crappy. But I was pretty happy with how my car drove. A couple of people here have said if it keeps going like this, they're going home at lunch and not coming back. I probably won't due that because I confess, I have a lot to do and I brought some home to work on last night and then totally ignored it. Go me! But I have budgeted my time so it's perfectly possible to get everything I want done today, done today.
Err, with the exception of the fact that today is Buzzword Bingo Day! If they don't call it off for weather! Which would be tragic. I also didn't even bother to put my trash out today, both for the treacherous walk to the curb AND the fact that yeah, right. Like that'd go well.
Now, at work, I have had a nice cup of hot cocoa and I would like to point out that last night was the first night in a WEEK that I did not go to bed with a fodian good night hug and it was not right. I'm going to file a protest somewhere.
For those interested,
neverneverfic did a post that more specifically addresses the accusation of 'you're just trying to be subversive' from a different perspective.
Now, in much more fun news - YAY! I GOT PRESENTS!!!
avrelia sent me a russian christmas card with a ROOSTER on it! A christmas rooster! And a chocolate medal! My first time having Russian Chocolate :) AND
myriad69 sent me a paper restaurant menu! With yummy sounding food on it, just to torture and torment me. Oh yeah, and a note on the menu that says 'ignore this side, read the other one'. Yeah, right. Like I will ignore Seafood!? You're a crazy cracksmoker, Myriad69! But I luff you. Also, fridge magnets shaped like leetle coffee beans, eee! SO CUTE. And mixed cds and virgin and slut lipbalm, because she, like Arrie, believes I should keep my options open.
And the last of the randomerfest remains are gone, now that Circe has just bordered the first leg of her journey back to Canadia. *sniff*
Anyway, love and *hugs* to you all and keeep me from dying on the ICE!
PS. Also, naturally it was bad luck for me to mention yesterday that my doctor's appointment is Friday - the doctor has to reschedule. Blah. Ibuprofen is my friend!
PPS. This week's motivational slogan at work is: Both character and competence are necessary to inspire trust. I quite like that one.
And now I go off to be competent and frantically try to get twice as much done today as I should have to! And do so knowing it's my own fault :)
