HEY!
Happy Wednesday! And happy, Happy Birthday to
doyle_sb4 !! May your birthday bring you even half the joy that you bring others on LJ! I hope you have a fabulous day!
Today we're stringing lights up at the office. Not, sadly, in celebration of Doyle's birthday - except to ME! And in my particular case, Coworker N and I are letting the lights blink on the floor and ignoring them - because they're behind her chair and she says she wants to use them as a barricade to keep people out. And I think that's a good idea. At least until they MAKE us use them to decorate our desks!
And I keep forgetting to share this week's motivational slogan. "Be silly. Be Honest. Be kind." - Emerson. Well. I think we can manage those a heck of a lot easier than we can this "don't even think about getting as much sleep as you want because it's WRONG AND EVIL" or whatever last week's were. Short and snappy slogans, that's the way to go.
Also, this week's Buzzword Bingo (played Wednesdays now!) is going to be "The 80s Rule!" and it's all things like Breakfast Club and DEVO and Care Bears and Trapper Keeper. Which works well for me. Also it's a pretty good sign that we do Buzzword Bingo completely and utterly wrong and it's just an excuse to play games. Wish me luck - the prize is a candy bar! Coworker H has won twice in a row and we suspect her of rigging the event.
Today's morning started off with two lucious cups of coffee and an episode of Coupling. That's a nice, nice way to start the day. ANd I needed such self-indulgence, for last night was a night of torment. TORMENT!
First of all, I accidently must have turned my phone off when I stuck it in my coat pocket yesterday. I didn't realize this until I got an email from Ros which said "Heeeeee! Done! And are you getting my test messages and just not responding you bitca?" Yes, I violate protocol by posting email correspendence! HAH! Well, I got that email and went to check my phone, I thought I must have just not heard it, then I saw it was off.
THEN! I respond back and am sorry, SORRY that I did that and my punishment is she said she's ignoring me. FOD!! STOP IT! You'll make me cry. But ! The torment doesn't end there. When Kovsky, who was CC'ed on that message, got to Boston (welcome back to Boston, Kovsky!) and read the email she responds back with "HEEEEEEEEEE! OMG, Ros, I love you forever."
OMG! This is not the way for people to behave. *cries* It's not my fault that Kovsky ALSO tried to text message me and got a dead phone and thus I was unable to support her during her layover, which was particularly bad since she's apparently got the swmbo-curse (HAH!) and got incredible delays that put her home hours later than planned. And could have used my support.
THen! To just add insult to injury?
ashlyn26 kept sending me links to different kinds of gourmet hot chocolates and omg, *lusts* *wants* *lusts* Dude. Did I not just make it clear that hot beverages are my weakness? Why must people torment me?! *sobs*
However. That was the end of November. November is always a cruel month. November is the cruelest month, I join the multitudes in defying Eliot. But today - today is the first day of December! My birthday month! In two and a half weeks it will be my day! HUZZAH! *dances about* Oh the glee, the absolute glee of it all. So I ignore and wipe out those casual cruelties that were inflicted up on me, the daggers plunged into my back. Instead I look forward with optimism and hope.
Also, I did not fall in the parking lot this morning, despite the patches of ICE! Because oh yes, they were there. Arrie, be strong for me! Moireach, lend a hand. Ice will never defeat me as long as I have loving friends!
HAPPY DECEMBER, EVERYBODY!
eta: eek! /i closes italics, /b closes bold! *facepalm* Wow, that was an emphatic couple of minutes until I noticed.
