Man! Lunch of doom yesterday - I should have known it would be followed from the shopping day of HELL today.
But before I get into that I need to say that today is the one year anniversary of my first meeting
ashlyn26! Of course we did it under pseduonyms and it was days or weeks before we found each other for REAL! But we had enormous fun playing off one another a year ago - and we've kept it up ever since. Love you, Ashy. Until you SQUEAK!
So tonight is my bestest friend's baby shower, right? (I can't remember if I mentioned the change - it was to be last weekend, but something came up and we had to switch it to this weekend). Now, I'd bought the crazy Infant-Toddler-Rocker thing ages ago, and I am splitting the diaper thingy - changing rack? Something, I don't remember, my brain is FRIED - and some diapers with the two other friends I'm throwing the shower with. But I wanted to get a couple of cute outfits, because that's the fun part of baby shopping. And I needed a gift bag to wrap the funny rocker chair in, because swmbos can't wrap gifts. At ALL. It would involve getting more tape on me than on the present and usually I end up tearing wrapping paper and the end result looks like a truck ran over it and...
It's just not pretty.
And as a cohostess, I'm bringing some of the food - in my case, I was planning to make dill dip for a bread bowl and then a veggie tray. And then, ok, fine - Vi started giving me all those Clex links and got me obsessed with Smallville fanfic. Except I hadn't seen the episodes. So Ashy went and bought me Season 1 of Smallville, because she spoils me ROTTEN *loves her* and of course I'm tearing through that, because that's what I do. As in, I'll wake up and watch three episodes before work, which is what happened yesterday. So, while I'm out, I know I need to pick up Season 2. I'd debated Netflixing it but really, it's soooo much cheaper than, say, B5 and I didn't wanna wait OR interrupt my B5 flow of DVDs. So that's it. All I need to get - gift bag, a few veggies, smallville season 2 and rye bread for a bread bowl. And a couple of cute baby outfits.
Sounds simple, right? Yeah, until you find out that you have to go to TWO stores to find a gift bag large enough, four stores overall to find someplace they're not sold out of Smallville Season 2 and THREE grocery stores to find a place that still sells rye bread that isn't a cut loaf!!! Because apparently nobody buys them, as one bakery manager told me, so they were told not to sell them any more. *sobs* But finally at the last place, I found them.
And I get home. And the gift bag? The one I found at the second store, the largest size they have? Isn't quite long enough and so the present won't fit in it. *facepalms*
