Still not a pseduo-aunt!!
They stopped giving my best friend the meds to induce last night, so that she could get a good night's rest. And started 'em again at 5am this morning. That was four and a half hours ago. How come I still don't have a pseudo-nephew?!
*paces impatiently* *wills phone to ring*
But she was doing excellently last night, so that's good.
I also was on 'cuddle the dog' duty late in the evening, since his parents were at the hospital and he needed companionship. And DID he. He spent an hour pretty much plastered up against me, being petted. ANd he's usually affectionate, but not the "stay stay stay, pet pet pet, now now now" sort. He's usually fairly distracted - worst dog in the world to play fetch with. If he brings it back to you twice without going off to investigate something else or just throwing the toy in the air, it's a productive fetch day. Last night was all "but I loooooove you" and resting his head on my knee and pressing against me. So I spoiled him for a good, long while until he felt secure and went to bed. Hopefully he'll adapt well to his new baby brother :p
And I'm on 'check the email' duty, too. I'm supposed to monitor her email and respond when appropriate. *shakes head* This is a lot of responsibility! Except, fortunately, not so much.
Hee, anyway, the baby is to be definitely born today, because from what I gather, if she doesn't progress far enough, they'll switch to stronger methods of induction or C-section. The irony being that this is my best friend and her husband's wedding anniversary, heee. I think it's an excellent anniversary present. She's absolutely convinced somehow that when people find out that the dates are the same that they'll be thinking that they had to get married for the baby. Personally I think the 'being united in holy matrimony while in labor at the hospital' story is a BETTER one, and she should go with it. She wasn't that amused. Hee. She's a loony, though, cause you know, first of all - how many people would know and how many would even care? *shakes head*
Still, she has to be kinda insane to have put up with me for twelve years. To the month, actually, although naturally we don't know the exact date we met. *sulks* Hee.
In work news, next Friday (um, the 24th, that one) is our Company Picnic. There is an egg-toss, which I declined to participate in, and a pie-eating contest, which I also avoided like the plague. We were supposed to do two people for the first event and one for the second from our department. A couple of the guys (reluctantly) agreed to toss eggs (Coworkers K and C, if anybody cares). And we convinced one of our webdesigners, Coworker R, to do the pie-eating contest. Which is fabulous because 1) she is tiny, one of the tiniest people I know. And 2) she is four months pregnant. Which was the argument we used "Didn't your doctor want you to gain weight? Eat pie!"
Um, really I'm not very interesting right now. Because everything is all 'baby baby baby'. *paces*
And then the baby does not COME! *settles in to wait, looking impatiently at the phone*
Ohh, also! It is hard adjusting to change. Twat's in Michigan now and I have to remember - are they still Eastern? I am pretty sure that's Eastern. And it's MUCH worse with the Fod, because to go from her being an hour ahead of me to two hours behind...Eeep!!
*bites lip* It's been another five hours!
I'm going to go insane. Insane! Insaner. Shush.
ETA! OH! I almost forgot - Masq sent me a video tape of Ricky 6. Thanks, Masq! Wee! Am scared to watch but will brace myself and try it. *dances* Thank youuuuu!!
